Emily Porter is a people operations, talent, and culture strategic leader based in Laguna Hills, CA.

Most recently, leading and building the People and Talent team at Common Thread Collective in Orange County, CA, and before that, as the Head of HR at Restaurant365 in Irvine, CA. 

Emily's passion for people and HR was ignited while working at Fortune 500 company, Nordstrom. SHRM-SCP certified with an MBA from Concordia University Irvine focused on Business Law and Marketing, which provided the opportunity firsthand to see how HR, Marketing, and Law can all collide for the betterment of employees and to continue building positive work environments.

Emily fuses joy, laughter, and spirited moxie in all she does. She's lead HR/People Ops at non-profits and startups and may look familiar if you read, "Cool HR: An Interview with Common Thread" in the first publication of the Bennie HR Advisory Magazine. Previously, the Director of People + Talent at Common Thread Collective, she's helped scale from 47 to 160 employees and from two states to 32+, all while navigating through COVID.

She is relentless in providing servant leadership and customer service to her staff to best meet the demands of the business and its people. As a creative, Emily's internal branding and communication aids in her ability to engage employees, build connections, and spark excitement through the power of content. Her daily mantra? "Our work changes lives and we are better together."
